The "first and only live country music bar” in Peabody, according to Stanzy's Facebook page, closed up shop after the owners’ landlord told them that he wanted to open his own pub.

“The perfect and only place he could imagine doing it in was his own building at 1 Main St. in Stanzy’s space,” they said. “We were blown away and beyond flattered!”

The owners of Stanzy’s decided to sell their space to the landlord, and they thanked regulars for their “loyalty and patronage” after “being only open” eight weeks at the height of the pandemic.

If customers still carry Stanzy’s gift cards, they can be used at the new pub “opening soon,” the owners said in their post.

The gift cards can also be used at Stanzy’s sister restaurant, Rivalry in Salem, and “enjoy an extra 25% extra bonus.”

Some locals were bummed about not getting a chance to visit Stanzy’s, while others were happy for the landlord to live out his dream of opening a new pub.

“So many fun nights at Stanzy’s,” one person recalled. “Hope the Pub has live music like you guys. Definitely gonna miss it.”

“So sad to hear Stanzy’s is going away,” another customer said. “You all were always so welcoming to up and coming local country artists.”

One commenter wrote about the importance of small businesses supporting other small businesses.

“Never had the chance to visit Stanzy’s,” they wrote. “However, after reading this I will make sure to visit your Salem restaurant in the near future!!”
